Why the Harambee Neighborhood?
All Pull Together
Harambee, meaning “all pull together” in Swahili, is a historically rich and culturally vibrant neighborhood that has long endured the compounded effects of poverty, systemic neglect, racial trauma, and limited access to high-quality mental health care.
One9 Trauma & Behavioral Health Counseling was founded in Harambee because we believe healing must begin where the pain resides. Our work is grounded in the conviction that mental health care should be both accessible and deeply rooted in the communities that need it most. By being embedded in Harambee, One9 affirms that mental health is a fundamental right, not a privilege, and that true healing begins with culturally responsive, community-centered care delivered where it is needed most.
Goals
- Bridging the gap between trauma and recovery for historically underserved populations.
- Providing trusted, walkable access to mental health services within the neighborhood.
- Empowering individuals and families to heal from trauma and build resilient, thriving lives.
- Partnering with local institutions to strengthen community-based support networks.
- Elevating marginalized voices in mental health and actively working to reduce stigma.
